Rn. Sharma et Pj. Richards, COMPUTATIONAL MODELING OF THE TRANSIENT-RESPONSE OF BUILDING INTERNAL-PRESSURE TO A SUDDEN OPENING, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 72(1-3), 1997, pp. 149-161
This paper describes the computational and experimental modelling of t
he transient response of internal pressures to sudden openings in buil
dings and models. It is shown that the computer model correctly predic
ts both the Helmholtz frequency and the decay rate of internal pressur
e. A study of the flow patterns from the computational results also sh
ow that a vena-contracta forms in the oscillating how following a sudd
en opening. It is thought that viscous losses may be important and new
analytic models have therefore been suggested which have been used to
obtain a match with the experimental results.
