A. Kareem, MODELING OF BASE-ISOLATED BUILDINGS WITH PASSIVE DAMPERS UNDER WINDS, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 72(1-3), 1997, pp. 323-333
This paper presents dynamic analysis of base-isolated buildings under
wind loads. Also considered here is the dynamics of base-isolated buil
dings with passive dampers attached at the building base and/or top. A
nalysis is performed using a state-space approach which models wind ve
locities as a coupled set of linear stochastic differential equations.
Various building-damper configurations are studied to determine effec
ts of the type of dampers and their placement on the building response
. A parameter study involving building and base-isolation properties i
s conducted to gain insight into their influence on building response.
