Abstract
Polarized Raman spectra of transition metal disilicides, MSi2 (M = Nb, Ta, V, Cr), of hexagonal structure were measured on single crystals. The transmittance IR spectrum of a polycrystalline CrSi2 film is also reported. The vibrational modes are described in terms of symmetry and atomic motions. The effect due to the metal substitution on the spect ra is discussed. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
