Abstract
The cluster ions produced in the direct laser vaporization of Mg(OH)(2 )4MgCO(3).5H(2)O are detected by a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. I t is found that there appear in situ solvation reactions of magnesium oxide clusters with H2O produced simultaneously in the direct laser va porization, which lead to the production of various solvated magnesium oxide cluster ions.
