U. George et S. Ramkissoon, RACE, GENDER, AND CLASS - INTERLOCKING OPPRESSIONS IN THE LIVES OF SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN IN CANADA, Affilia, 13(1), 1998, pp. 102-119
This report of a study of 47 South Asian women who were recent immigra
nts to Canada reveals that these women face many challenges in settlin
g in the new country and barriers to the receipt of social services. T
he findings emphasize the need to understand these women's experiences
within the framework of the intersecting diversities of race, gender,
and class and to develop culturally and linguistically sensitive soci
al work policies and practice.
