The relationships of P-31 chemical shift with the degree of the substi
tution, the different kind of substituent group, reaction activation e
nergy, and electronegativity and of the coupling constant with the deg
ree of the substitution were investigated. The P-31 chemical shifts an
d the coupling constants correlate linearly with the degree of the sub
stitution. The chemical shifts are proportional to the reaction activa
tion energy. Observed chemical shifts are expressed and calculated wit
h a partial chemical shift of the unit substituent group and electrone
gativity. These correlations can be useful for the assignment of the r
esonances of other related derivatives.
