Approximate Hamiltonians for the one-dimensional, (1D) Calogero and tw
o-dimensional (2D) anyon models in a harmonic well are constructed. Th
ese Hamiltonians are exactly diagonalizable, and their spectra interpo
late linearly between the Bose statistics and the Fermi statistics. In
particular, in 2D, the thermodynamics is similar to that of a system
obeying a generalized exclusion principle and may be viewed as a start
ing approximation for the thermodynamics of anyons.
