Abstract
Oraposide and verbascoside are two phenylpropanoid glycosides which ha ve a radical-scavenging activity, They are found in plants such as Oro banche rapum-genistae Thuill. High speed countercurrent chromatography has been investigated for the extraction of these glycosides from the crude plant extract using various two-phase solvent systems, Using th e optimised system, each purified polyphenolic compound could be obtai ned following direct injection of a crude extract in a single run.
