Measurements of the electrical resistance, thermopower, and magnetic s
usceptibility of CeNi4In have been carried out within the 4.2-400 K ra
nge, with Ce in saturated valence state. It is shown that this state o
f Ce in metallic compounds is characterized by formation of a fine str
ucture in the density of states near the Fermi level, which is qualita
tively different from the case of usual intermediate-valence state. (C
