Abstract
Characteristics of the excess free volume in amorphous alloys quenched from a melt are investigated and analyzed. It is established by small -angle x-ray scattering that the application of intense hydrostatic pr essure causes this volume to decrease. This decrease leads to an enhan cement of a number of characteristics of the mechanical properties of amorphous alloys. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics.
