P. Folkers et P. Luyten, FROM MORPHOLOGY TO FUNCTION - NEW NEURO APPLICATIONS IN FUNCTIONAL MAGNETIC-RESONANCE, Italian journal of neurological sciences, 18(6), 1997, pp. 367-372
Functional Imaging of the brain is one of the most exciting recent dev
elopments in Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI). It refers to techniques
which provide functional information about the human brain which goes
beyond morphology. Examples are brain activation studies, perfusion a
nd diffusion imaging. For example, the visualization of activated cort
ical brain regions during external stimulations or while performing sp
ecific tasks opens a completely new perspective for the use of MRI.
