Abstract
Radiochemical ageing of ethylene-propylene elastomers EPDM and EPR at room temperature was studied. Yields of oxygenated units, C=O and C-OH were calculated from IR data. Irradiation dose for both elastomers wa s ranged up to 1 MGy. Dose rate effect was also studied for three valu es: 0.72, 0.36 and 0.18 kGy/h in a Co-60 irradiation facility. Differe nt yields for carboxyl and hydroxyl functions characterizes their appe arance and decay during irradiation in air. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
