The map of organic carbon (C-org) distribution in bottom sediments of
the World ocean are constructed by means of computer an the base of ca
lculations of expected C-org content in knots of regular grid consider
ing water depth, remoteness from coast, climatic zone, granulometric c
haracteristics and facial types of bottom sediments. The combination t
his map with available maps of accumulation rates of sediments (cm/100
0 y) and bioproductivity of the ocean resulted to map of accumulation
rate of C-org (mg/cm(2) 1000 y) and map of fossilization coefficients.
Average rates of C-org accumulation, fossilization coefficients and C
-org in the bulk are estimated for pelagic parts of each ocean.
