Abstract
The results of measurements of suspended particulate matter concentrat ion and size distribution in the Laptev Sea are analyzed. Measurements were carried out by different methods including optical. High correla tion between the values of the beam attenuation coefficient and suspen ded matter concentration is shown. This gives a possibility to interpr et optical data in term of suspended particulate matter concentration. Typical vertical profiles of suspended matter content in the Laptev S ea are considered. Distribution of suspended matter concentration in t he surface layers of the Laptev Sea shows that in the eastern part of the sea turbid river waters propagates significantly farther from the Lena River delta than in the western part, The frontal ones at which d ifferent parameters including suspended matter concentration sharply c hanged, were observed in regions of fresh water influence, Transformat ion of particle size distribution in different regions of the Laptev S ea are analyzed.
