Abstract
The authors present an overview of advances in three areas including s oftware radio, adaptive antenna technology, and high-temperature super conductivity as currently envisioned for use in advanced cellular base stations. The conclusion broadly drawn is that the advancement in DSP and ASIC technologies will make the major contribution in making thes e technologies technically and commercially realistic.
