SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS - REQUIREMENTS AND REALIZATIONS IN THE UMTSERA

The ACTS program moves the results of the R&D of the parent RACE progr am nearer to realization through technology and user trials. Particula rly in the mobile domain of ACTS, several projects have been investiga ting the user dimension in the context of the third-generation Univers al Mobile Telecommunications Service. Results so far suggest many oppo rtunities to broaden participation, exploit the inherent benefits of t he mobile environment, and take advantage of the enormous improvements in wireless communications to realize the potential of global multime dia mobility.
