Proceratophrys cururu, a species superficially similar to P. cristicep
s and P. goyana, is described as new from the Serra do Cipo, Minas Ger
ais, southeastern Brazil. The new species differs from both P. cristic
eps and P. goyana by its more contrasting dorsal color pattern, larger
and more heterogeneous dorsal tubercles, dorsal tubercular rows inter
rupted in the sacral region, and two to three large tubercles in the s
uprascapular region.
