Abstract
Tardive dystonia appeared in a young first episode schizophrenic patie nt 1 week after reducing daily sulpiride from 100 mg to 50 mg. It is s urprising that a single administration of a very low dose of sulpiride for 1 year caused tardive dystonia in a schizophrenic case without an y other apparent risk factor for tardive dyskinesia. The present case contributes to further understanding of tardive dystonia and sulpiride should be used cautiously, as is the case with other neuroleptics. (C ) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
