Abstract
The centipede fauna of a wasteland area in the city of Rome has been s tudied for two years in order to assess the seasonal change of the cen tipede community for species composition and abundance. Twenty species have been recorded, the most frequent being Lithobius acuminatus Brol emann, L. calcaratus C. L. Koch, both thermophilous, and L. lapidicola Meinert, euryoecious. The higest number of species and specimens were collected in January/April and in October/December, the rainy periods of the area which is characterized by a Mediterranean climate.
