Abstract
Regeneration through Kerr fibre phase modulation is proposed and appli ed for the first time to wavelength-multiplexed soliton signals. Perio dic regeneration by Ken fibre modulators without the use of guiding fi lters and dispersion management is shown to increase the error-free di stance in 2 x 20Gbit/s WDM soliton transmission up to 3500 km.
