Abstract
To date. approaches to coherent optical coding have used fibre-based d evices for the coding/decoding operation: placing practical limitation s on the ultimate system throughput. Here, a photonic integrated light wave circuit, based on the imbalanced interferometer in tandem with a modelocked laser diode, is used to demonstrate optical phase encoding/ decoding of a 10GHz pulse stream.
