Abstract
Eight new species of soil oribatid mites are described from Para State (Brazil) and a new genus is established. Fifteen previously known spe cies are also recorded. The new species are: Protophthiracarus paraens is n. sp., Xenillus amazonensis n.sp., Cultroribula brasilensis n. sp. , Oxioppia (Oxioppiella) taurus n. SP., Aeroppia abdita n. sp., Terato ppiella ardua n. sp., Pergalumna bellesii n, sp. and Belemacarus amazo nicus n. g. et n. sp. The new genus Belemacarus belongs to the family Ceratokalummidae.
