Abstract
By reaction of the dicesium salts of long chain dicarboxylic acids (C atoms > 9) with methylene iodide the corresponding methylene diesters were prepared. These acylals, by reduction with NaBH4 in THF, give the corresponding omega-hydroxy acids.
