Seven patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease were enrolled in a
ten week study to evaluate the efficacy of famotidine, an histamine H2
-antagonist, in the treatment of bradyphrenia. Patients received famot
idine 80 mg/day for a period of six weeks and were evaluated with neur
opsychological tests. Overall, patients demonstrated improvement in va
riables measured. Some patients also reported an improvement in their
motor symptoms.
