MORPHOLOGY BY IMAGE-ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE S WITH CONTINUOUS FIBERS - PRINCIPLES AND RESULTS

This work presents in a rather global way the morphological study of c omposites with long fibers and the results obtained. In a first part, the basic principles of image analysis and of the mathematical morphol ogy are described, then their use is detailed, insisting more especial ly on the various granulometric methods, the use of variogram and indi vidual analysis. In the second part are presented and discussed, in th e case of composites with ceramic matrix, the results obtained relativ e to the characteristics of volume fractions, granulometry, homogeneit y of materials and distribution in size and shape of the fibers.
