Ca. Martinez et As. Hay, SYNTHESIS OF HYPERBRANCHED OLIGOMERS WITH ACTIVATED ARYL CHLORIDE ANDPHENOL TERMINAL GROUPS, Journal of macromolecular science. Pure and applied chemistry, A35(1), 1998, pp. 57-90
We have carried out the synthesis of hyperbranched oligomers with acti
vated aryl chloride and phenol terminal functionality from relatively
high molecular weight monomers. The syntheses have the displacement of
chlorides activated by sulfone groups using phenolate ions in common.
In these methods, the phenolate ion can undergo self condensation to
give aryl chloride-terminated or phenol-terminated hyperbranched oligo
mers. The syntheses of the monomers and reactive oligomers are easily
carried out and produce the products in high yield. The products were
characterized by HPLC, MALDI-TOF-MS, NMR, and SEC.
