Abstract
Crystal and molecular structure of tris(dimethyldithioarsinato)chromiu m(III) Cr(S2AsMe2)(3) have been determined by X-ray difraction. The cr ystal is orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with unit cell dimens ions a = 9.041 (2) A, b = 9.676 (3) A and c = 22.077 (5) A. The three dimethylthioarsinato groups are isobidentate with an average As-S bond length of 2.132 (3) A and Cr-S of 2.446 (3) A. The trigonal distortio n from octahedral symmetry (21 degrees) is discussed in relation to sp ectroscopic properties and ligand-ligand repulsion.
