Abstract
Compression of pulses from an Nd phosphate laser, of 1 ns duration, by stimulated Raman scattering in SnCl4 was used to generate Stakes puls es with lambda = 1.097 mu m, of duration less than 150 ps, and of simi lar to 50 mJ energy: The energy conversion efficiency reached 40%.
