Abstract
Static and dynamic erosion characteristics under high-flux plasma irra diation have been examined utilizing an in situ spectroscopic method f or high-temperature titanium-carbon composite materials. Clear suppres sion of erosion of titanium carbide deposited graphite was observed un der high-ion nux conditions compared to the conventional ion beam expe riments, The dynamic transport of carbon atoms across the multilayered carbide is studied by an analytical approach in the case of rapid dif fusion in carbide thin layer. A comparison between theoretical and exp erimental results of temperature dependencies of erosion behavior give s us an estimation of carbon transport coefficients: segregation and d issolution constants.
