Abstract
The title compounds are readily obtained by singlet oxygen oxygenation of 2-alkoxyfurans, and they display an intriguing variety of useful t ransformations which are presented here in a systematic way. These tra nsformations give rise to either new classes of peroxidic systems or t o classes of known compounds which are obtained by more convenient pat hways.
