Abstract
A new synthesis of carbazoles, via regioselective Diels-Alder reaction of novel exo-2-oxazolidinone dienes 1, is described. Cyclization with palladium acetate of the intermediate diaryl amines, obtained by a on e-pot three-step procedure from the cycloadducts, yielded the desired substituted carbazoles.
