Abstract
The authors have developed a novel, simple chirped-grating based beamf ormer for time-steered array antennas. The beamformer is based on comm ercially available chirped fibre gratings and optical circulators and has a measured bandwidth of over 18GHz. The first-ever array demonstra tion achieves quasi-continuous 1D steering over 45 degrees.
