Abstract
An InP/GaInAsP pi-phase-shifted Mach-Zehnder modulator has been design ed for wavelength independent propagation performance over the whole b andwidth of the erbium-doped fibre amplifier. A propagation distance o f 133km using a standard dispersive fibre has been bridged by modulati ng only one arm while keeping constant the low bias (-1.3V) and peak-t o-peak (2V) voltages.
