Abstract
We conducted a literature review and contacted several museums to dete rmine the historical occurrence of Wolves (Canis lupus) in the Maritim e Provinces. Although there were many anecdotal sightings prior to 187 0, no museum specimens originating from the Maritimes were located. Ou r review suggested that although Wolves were historically present, the y were probably not numerous, and were probably extirpated from the Ma ritime Provinces between 1870 and 1921.
