At present, rolled multifilamentary Bi-2223/Ag tapes exhibiting J(c) >
50 kA cm(-2) at 77 K are fabricated, making them the most favourable
candidates for the fabrication of high-temperature superconductor (HTS
) conductors for power applications. In this paper the fabrication pro
cess of long Bi-2223/Ag tapes by the powder-in-tube technique is prese
nted and discussed with the aim of surveying the influence of some sel
ected process parameters on the properties of final conductors. J(c) l
imitations in HTSs are discussed and some of the possible applications
of Bi-2223/Ag or Bi-2212/Ag tapes are briefly presented.
