Abstract
A new compound of formula [Cu2L2][tcnq](3) has been obtained where L-2 is the Robson-type binucleating macrocyclic dianionic ligand obtained by condensation of 1,3-diaminopropane and 2,6-diformyl-4-trifluoromet hylphenol and tcnq is tetracyanoquinodimethane. A comparison of the sp ectroscopic, conducting and magnetic properties of this compound with those of related copper-tcnq materials affords a reasonable understand ing of the electronic properties. Single crystals of a partially fluor inated compound of formula [Cu2L3][tcnq](3) have been obtained. A care ful examination of the crystallographic data suggests similar properti es for both fluorinated compounds.
