Abstract
The radiation characteristics of a rectangular hollow dielectric horn (HDH) with a guiding structure (launcher) are reported. A tapered diel ectric rod of optimum length at the metal-dielectric interface of the horn modifies the radiation pattern with increased gain and considerab le reduction in sidelobe levels both in the E- and H-planes. The launc her technique is equally applicable to pyramidal and sectoral horns. ( C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
