Abstract
Based on the Maxwell Garnett (MG) formalism for homogenizing particula te composite media, an incremental MG (IMG) formalism is developed. Wh ereas the MG formalism is suitable for dilute composite media, the IMG formalism is phenomenologically valid err for dense composite media b ecause it homogenizes incrementally over a succession of several inter mediate dilute composite media. IMG algorithms are presented for the s imple dielectric-in-dielectric, as well as the complicated bianisotrop ic-in-bianisotropic composite media. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons. Inc.
