Abstract
A model of local corrosion of zirconium fuel-element claddings in boil ing water nuclear reactors is worked out on the basis of the effect of local boiling under conditions of nonuniform thickness of the corrosi on depositions on the cladding surface. A rate equation for local corr osion of zirconium fuel-element claddings, which includes thermal and radiation components, is proposed.
