Relapsing polychondritis is a rare disorder that can give rise to a wi
de variety of clinical manifestations. Two cases are reported, in a 52
-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman, both of whom had peripheral joi
nt symptoms at presentation and developed laryngotracheal chondritis d
espite sulfone therapy. The central nervous system manifestations of r
elapsing polychrondritis are severe, often leaving significant sequele
a despite therapy (case 1), Ocular involvement is common, but rarely t
akes the form of papillitis (case 1), which responds well to treatment
. Corticosteroid therapy seems unable to arrest the progression of rel
apsing polychondritis (case 1).
