Abstract
The authors present experimental results of using the all-optical gain -clamped EDFA for protecting surviving channels in a wavelength-divisi on-multiplexed network in which many EDFAs are used in cascade. In par ticular, the effects of relaxation oscillations from the gain-clamped EDFAS on transmission performances of surviving channels are discussed .
