Abstract
It is analytically shown that in a propagation regime with a low avera ge normal dispersion, the interplay between the Kerr effect and chroma tic dispersion can reduce the degradation due to ASE noise in NRZ opti cal systems. Such behaviour is confirmed by simulations in links with a chromatic dispersion, having both a constant and a sawtooth distribu tion.
