Ae. Zatserklyanyi et al., STUDY OF THE LIGHT YIELD OF PLASTIC SCINTILLATORS IN A MAGNETIC-FIELD, Instruments and experimental techniques, 40(6), 1997, pp. 790-794
Relative change in the light yield in polystyrene-and acrylic-based pl
astic scintillators was measured as a function of the magnetic field.
Scintillator samples of various thickness and configurations were exci
ted by photons from Co-60 and Cs-137, electrons from Sr-98, and alpha-
particles from Pu-239. On increasing the magnetic field from 0 to 2.1
T, the light yield increased by 6-10% in the scintillators irradiated
with electrons and photons and remained practically unaffected in the
scintillators irradiated with alpha-particles.
