Abstract
The number of patients needing treatment for irreversible renal failur e has continued to increase over the last decade. This study uses disc rete event simulation to explore the overall demand for treatment in U nited Kingdom (UK) over the next 15 years, Data were obtained from nat ional and international data sources. The results show that the number s will continue to increase in the foreseeable future with an expected increase in costs of two to three hundred million pounds over the tim e period.
