Abstract
The authors present a detailed spectral characterisation of an optimal ly designed 60km long DEDFA for soliton transmission. From this. the o ptimum wavelength for single channel and WDM soliton transmission in s uch systems and the minimum allowable soliton pulsewidth can both be d etermined. The results also indicate that the use of in-line soliton g uiding filters may not be necessary in single channel systems.
