Abstract
The authors analyse the effect of line repairs after cable breaks in t ransoceanic regenerated WDM soliton systems. A theoretical 5x20Gbit/s WDM system with 50km/350km amplifier/regenerator spacing is used as a test example. The system robustness to the insertion of up to 10km of repair fibre jumper corresponding to high-depth breaks is numerically demonstrated.
