AN OVERVIEW OF THE PEACH INDUSTRY OF SPAIN

Important changes in the peach industry of Spain have occurred in rece nt years, including increases in acreage and production, and significa nt changes in the cultivars planted. Melting-flesh cultivars, primaril y from North America, are replacing the traditional native, seed propa gated, non-melting flesh Spanish populations. A description and compar ison of the major peach growing areas in Spain are presented.
