The mixed-halide cluster phase NaZr6Cl10.94I3.06B is the first compoun
d within the reduced zirconium halides which has a structure that seem
s to require two differently sized halide types. The three-dimensional
connectivity of the Zr6X12B units (X = Cl, I) is achieved by exo iodi
de ions which all bridge three different cluster units simultaneously.
