H. Wu et al., A STATISTICAL STUDY OF THE SPECTRA OF VERY LUMINOUS IRAS GALAXIES - I- DATA, Astronomy & Astrophysics. Supplement series, 127(3), 1998, pp. 521-526
This paper presents the results of spectral observations for the large
st complete sample of very luminous IRAS galaxies obtained to date. Th
e sample consists of those 73 objects for which log(L-IR/L.) greater t
han or equal to 11.5 (H-0 = 50 km s(-1) Mpc(-1), q(0) = 0.5) and mag l
ess than or equal to 15.5, and was extracted from the 2 Jy IRAS redshi
ft catalog. All the spectra were obtained using the 2.16 m telescope o
f Beijing Astronomical Observatory during the years 1994-1996. A total
of 123 galaxy spectra were obtained with spectral ranges of 4400 Angs
trom to 7100 Angstrom and 3500 Angstrom to 8100 Angstrom at resolution
s of 11.2 Angstrom and 9.3 Angstrom respectively. In addition to the 7
3 spectra for sample galaxies, we also present spectra for ten non-sam
ple galaxies and a further 40 for the companions of sample galaxies, T
he data presented include nuclear spectrum and the parameters describi
ng the emission lines, absorption lines and continua as well as DSS im
ages and environmental parameters(1).
