S. Aoki et al., CONTROLLED-RELEASE DOSAGE FORM OF IBUPROF EN WHICH WAS LAYERED BY TALC WITH ETHYLCELLULOSE BINDER, Yakugaku zasshi, 118(2), 1998, pp. 72-77
We studied the controlled release dosage form of ibuprofen which was l
ayered by talc with an ethylcellulose (EC) binder. In this dosage form
, the amount of EC was variable in the range of 4.1-6.0 g according to
the operating conditions (e.g. slit air temperature), However the rel
ease rate of ibuprofen was changed according to these conditions, It w
as, therefore, difficult to assure the reproducible productivity of su
stained-release granules of ibuprofen. We designed formulations of EC
binder solutions; EC-ethanol, EC-ethanol-water and EC-ethanol-water-hy
droxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), and investigated the release rate o
f ibuprofen which was prepared by each formulation. The results showed
that the release rate of ibuprofen was not changed in the range of 4.
2-10.3 g of the amount of EC used in the EC-ethanol-water HPMC formula
tion.
